The first thing I would like to say is it is sometimes very hard to tell the difference between a good and bad kitchen as it can take time for faults to appear.  Popular products that sell in volume can often be copied and produced cheaper, so it can be very hard to tell the difference.  Usually, it is only from wear and tear, that the faults will appear. So even though you are being very careful when doing your research, it is still possible to get caught out.

Some of the ways not to get caught is to ask your kitchen designer what is the brand of product they use, and do your research on the products website. Quite often if it is a quality product, they will have their own guarantee and preferred users list on the website.  When you are getting quotes from a kitchen company, ask if it is possible to ring some of their clients which have kitchens that are a few years old.

Check all the edges of the doors and drawers by rubbing your hand over them, if you feel any roughness or slight burs, get the company to do a fine sanding back to a smooth edge, as this roughness or slight bur catch your clothes and be prone to chip.  Drawers are the most important to check for any roughness, as they take a lot of wear and tear, so it is advisable to get the best quality you can afford.

A badly manufactured kitchen will show its faults or look old after about 6 months. The doors will start to sag or fall out of adjustment, as will the drawers.  Look for odd sizes on doors, this is essential for ‘custom made kitchens’, as if the kitchen is custom made, the door sizes should balance.  So through research, try to choose a Brisbane kitchen company that will do a quality custom made kitchen, as you don’t want to have to go down the road of battling someone to get any faults in your new kitchen rectified.
